Our Space

Alter offers a Finnish-inspired hot + cold experience in the College West neighbourhood of Toronto.

Expect to be:

In a spacious Finnish sauna with essential oil infused steam. Temperatures range from 80-90ºC

Expect to sauna:

As often as feels good for you.
However, to maximize benefits, research indicates that 15 minute sessions at least 4x per week is best.

Expect to feel:

Rested
Relieved
Detoxified
relaxed

Expect to be:

In a four-person ice bath or underneath our shower bucket, with water temperatures that range from 2-10ºC

Expect to plunge:

As often as feels good for you.
However, to maximize benefits and minimize stress on your body, research indicates 11 minutes per week is best.

In a cozy, comfortable lounge space with complimentary tea.

Expect to rest:

As often as feels good for you.
However, we recommend 2-5 minute breaks in-between the hot + cold and after your session to ease back into your regular day.

Instructor-Led Classes

Let our experienced Instructors guide you through the hot + cold, with breathwork, movement, and aromatherapy.

Classes are 60-75 minutes.

Sisu: Build Resilience

Challenge yourself in both the sauna and the ice bath. This class is designed around the Finnish concept of “Sisu" a word that conveys the concept of grit, resilience, and strength.
